We walk in Memory of Steven Hendrix

On January 7, 2006, Reno lost a long time community member and friend, Steven Hendrix, who battled AIDS for 13 years, and never let the disease get the best of him. He faced life with a smile and a "can do" attitude. His dedication not only to his friends and family, but the entire Northern Nevada community, exemplified the type of person we're all proud to have known and loved. Steve was honored as Volunteer of year by Spectrum in 2004 because of his tireless dedication to causes like AIDS Education, Addiction & Recovery, and the GLBT Community.

To give back to the AIDS community, a group of Steve's friends, both gay & straight, have joined together to bring the first ever AIDS walk to the Reno area. The committee believes through its dedication to the success of the walk and in the memory of our friend, we can:

  • bring considerable funding to the various AIDS organizations in the Northern Nevada area,
  • educate the Northern Nevada community about the disease and,
  • have fun doing it.

All proceeds from the walk will benefit the wonderful organizations who exist solely to serve the individuals infected and affected by HIV/AIDS and educate the public on the very important topic of AIDS prevention.
